A light, softwood with an even grain and fine texture northern white cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant. If left to the elements in its natural state your white cedar furniture will weather to a handsome silver gray. If you don't want this look we recommend finishing your furniture with a semi-transparent stain with sunscreen. You should only need one coat. We suggest that you don't use a sealant as this will compromise the rot-resistant characteristics of the wood and prevent you from enjoying your cedar furniture for years to come.
